Ingredients:
- 2 c flour
- 3 T butter at room temp
- 1 t salt
- 3t baking powder
- 1 scant* cup of milk (I use skim milk, but you can use whole milk, heavy cream etc. But the fattier the milk, the more liquid you'll have to add to get the mix right).
- optional; raisins, spinach, cheese, cinnamon and sugar, chocolate chips, etc.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Add flour, salt and baking powder together in bowl. Then cut in butter in pea sized squares. Squish butter with fingers until there aren't many hard lumps. Add milk and stir just until mixed.
For scones- place dough on cookie sheet or baking stone. Pat down until a circle about 1-2 inches tall. Then cut like a pizza and move pieces slightly apart.
For biscuits- roll out gently in flour and cut into circles with the top of a glass.
For restaurant style biscuits brush the top with butter before baking.
For dairy-free, egg-free doughnuts, deep fry and cover in sugar.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
