Steak Soup from Kansas City Plaza II

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground sirloin/beef
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1 c flour
  • ground pepper
  • 1 carrot sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 stalk celery diced
  • 1 pkg frozen mixed veggies
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 4 T beef base (bouillon etc.)-or use 8 c beef broth and omit water
  • 8 c water
Directions:
In large soup pot, brown sirlon. Take out and set aside. Then melt butter and whisk in flour to make a "roux". Slowly add water, mixing constantly. After all the water has been mixed in, add the remaining ingredients and ground beef to bring to a boil. Simmer for 1-2 hours.
