Briyanni

Ingredients:
  • 1 onion, cut up
  • oil
  • 2 cup Basmati rice
  • 3-6 T Briyanni paste (found in Indian or Asian stores)
  • Optional-
    • chicken pieces (about 1 lb, thighs work well here)
    • frozen cauliflower cooked
    • canned garbanzo beans
    • frozen green beans cooked
    • canned tomatoes
    • other
Directions:
Saute onion in 2 T oil. Add cut up chicken.
When done add briyanni paste and about 2 cups of rice, add extra oil if dry. Stir then add other optional ingredients.
Place in a covered casserole dish and fill with enough water to cover rice and a tad more. Cook in oven at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Veggies for kids: add frozen cauliflower cut up into small pieces.
